![]() ![]() That's my fact - my own observation of my own trial. Throughout a lengthy processor-intensive stress-test, the temperature never rose above 51 C. In other words, it is merely your opinion. So your statement is not driven by observation. That includes the processor, which will eventually spike. That produces heat, and it's not magically limited to those components: everything inside the case will heat up. In case you don't understand why that's relevant - as you run those kinds of tests, the other components on your board must also perform lots of work. Have you tested it with heavy GPU rendering? You didn't even mention the GPU. Have you tested it while running two 4K monitors? Or even one of them? (Or did you just run it in a headless configuration, as I suspect?) Have you tested it with a fully loaded bus, such as heavily I/O-bound processes? Saturated access to memory, microSD, WiFi, Ethernet, and/or USB? The projector takes a minute to warm up so it's nice to get it started from wherever I happen to be before heading to the basement to watch tv. I can tell any google device to "turn on the basement TV" and it turns on the receiver, shield, and projector just like the harmony/flirc combo, but it also turns some basement lights on dimmed to 20% if it is after sunset and turns them off at the end. As an added bonus it works with google assistant and all my home automation stuff. The hub is an app on my phone that is easy to update. It required a different login for each remote managed if I remember correctly. I got tired of unplugging the flirc and updating it as well as the harmony remote in their ancient logitech remote software on my computer whenever I changed anything. Now I have the hubs and 3 flircs in my desk drawer. I used to love the flirc and had older harmony remotes all over my house. There are suggestions on this on Reddit and the Flirc forums. Otherwise you can’t put the Shield to sleep with the remote.Īnd you’ll also need to plug the Flirc into your computer and teach it various commands with the remote (like back, rewind, play, etc). Then I went into the activity settings and added “sleep” from the second device as one of the shutdown actions. I ended up setting up two devices in the MyHarmony software-one was my old shield settings, which does all the heavy lifting and another shield device that has “sleep” as one of its only three controls (this is NOT the new shield remote settings, which I am not using). The Flirc isn’t perfect, and I ended up using a USB cable extender to move it next to the front of my shield. ![]() I actually have had a Harmony Hub for a few years but it’s never been terribly responsive for me.
